Street Food Circus has announced its spring and summer line-up, taking the best of Wales’ street food talent back to some familiar locations.

The Forest Feastival will return to its woodland site near the dunes at Merthyr Mawr for a four week run starting on the Easter Weekend in April. Freed from pandemic restrictions, Street Food Circus will be using more of the site, with new bar areas, live music DJs, circus sideshows and a Sunday Jamboree for the kids.

Twelve of Wales’ street food superstars will be lined up for every sesion, with a rotating line-up to give everyone a taste of something new and exciting. Names confirmed include Anand George’s Tukka Tuk, British Street Food winners Fire & Flank and local favourites Hot Damn Wings. Others include Pwdin, Fork Society, Keralan Karavan, Smokin Griddle, Carnival Brazilian, ansh, Bare Bones Pizza, Bao Selecta, Hogi Hogi Hogi and Bearded Taco.

This year, as well as the rotating street food traders, guest chefs will be popping up throughout the run including Janet’s Authentic Northern Chinese, Sgiwer and the Nordic Kitchen.

Forest Feastival will return later in the year for a September run with a Fire Fest of chefs cooking over open flames, and a big BBQ weekend to kick things off.

In Cardiff, Street Food Circus returns to its regular Roath Yard site for the month of May running from 13th May until the four-day jubilee bank holiday weekend at the start of June.

The Welsh Street Food Awards also return to the Roath Yard site for the weekend of 21/22 May. The winners from the weekend will represent Wales at the British Street Food Awards later in the year. Last year’s Welsh winner, Janet’s Authentic Northern Chinese from Pontypridd went on to claim the overall prize, being named British Street Food Champion 2021.

Matt ‘the Hat’, ringmaster of the Street Food Circus, explained:

“It’s great to be looking forward to a summer of street food feasting across some of the best sites in Wales, from our urban courtyard to the stunning coastal location at Merthyr Mawr. It will be fantastic to be back at the magical Forest Feastival site twice this year with more space for people to explore the site, more entertainment and some special surprises up our sleeves – watch this space…”

“The street food scene was already strong, but we’ve seen even more people following their dreams of setting up a new food business throughout the last two years. We’ll be curating an exciting mix of our established Street Food Circus favourites alongside some truly exciting new chefs who are just starting out.

“A big part of Street Food Circus has always been about incubating and supporting new cooking talent and we’ve seen many of our traders go from pop-up to permanent restaurant locations. I can’t wait for people to see who we’ve got lined up for this year – maybe even another British Street Food Champion from Wales,” he said.
