Eighties music icon Holly Johnson is heading to North Wales next summer for a night packed with some of the era’s biggest hits.
The former Frankie Goes To Hollywood frontman will headline Live at Llangollen Pavilion on Sunday, June 27, 2027, with special guests Haircut 100 and Toyah completing the retro line-up.
Tickets will go on general sale at 10am on Friday via Llangollen and Ticketmaster.
Johnson shot to fame as the lead vocalist and lyricist of Frankie Goes To Hollywood, one of the biggest-selling bands of the 1980s.
The group made a spectacular start to their chart career with three consecutive UK Number One singles, Relax, Two Tribes and The Power Of Love.
Johnson’s distinctive voice, flamboyant stage presence and bold persona helped establish Frankie Goes To Hollywood as one of the decade’s most recognisable pop acts, combining social commentary with dance music.
After going solo in 1987, Johnson went on to build his own catalogue of hits, including the album Blast and singles Love Train, Americanos and Atomic City.
He has also remained a prominent voice for LGBTQ+ visibility and human rights, using his platform to advocate for equality and acceptance.
Johnson played sold-out shows at venues across the country this summer and will now bring his live show to Llangollen next June.
Joining him will be New Wave pop favourites Haircut 100, who made their new music comeback earlier this year with the release of Boxing The Compass.
The album reunited the classic line-up of Nick Heyward on vocals and guitar, Graham Jones on guitar, Les Nemes on bass and Blair Cunningham on drums for the first time in 44 years.
It followed the release of The Unloving Plum, which secured BBC Radio 2’s Record Of The Week slot.
Fans can also expect music from the group’s collection of classic 1980s hits, including Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl), Love Plus One, Fantastic Day and Nobody’s Fool.
Completing the line-up is singer, actress and performer Toyah, whose career has now spanned five decades.
With 13 Top 40 singles and 25 albums, her back catalogue includes It’s A Mystery, I Want To Be Free and Good Morning Universe, as well as the platinum-selling albums Anthem and The Changeling.
Alongside her appearance with Holly Johnson in 2027, Toyah is also preparing to release a new studio album, Future Dreaming!
Artistic Director of the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod Dave Danford said: “Holly Johnson, Haircut 100 and Toyah are three unmistakable names in British music and bringing them together in Llangollen promises a night packed with character, colour and some truly iconic songs.
“Each of them has carved out a very distinctive place in popular music, and all three continue to command enormous affection from audiences. I think this will be one of those evenings with a real sense of occasion, great energy in the Pavilion and plenty of moments people will want to sing along to.”
