The largest building society in Wales ranked 9th in the super large employer category of The UK’s Best Workplaces™ by Great Place to Work®. Earlier this year Principality ranked 8th in the Great Place to Work® Wellbeing category.

The UK’s Best Workplaces™ awards are based on the results of the Trust Index© employee survey and a Culture Audit©. Principality ranked highly for creating a culture that focuses on employee wellbeing, by promoting mental and physical wellbeing in the workplace as well as a healthy work environment and work-life balance.

Julie-Ann Haines, Chief Executive Officer at Principality said:

‘’We’re so proud to be named as a top ten Best Workplace™ in the UK. Since the beginning of the pandemic we have placed a real emphasis on promoting health and wellbeing in what has been a difficult period. Now we have rejuvenate days on the eighth day of each month to allow colleagues to step away from phone calls and meetings so they can focus on things such as wellbeing, or personal development. Our colleagues also have wellbeing hour each day where no calls or meetings are expected for our head office teams, we have more mental health advocates across the business, have introduced a wellbeing hub, as well as live and recorded fitness sessions, network groups, plus lunch and learn sessions. All these valuable activities and our clear open communication have played a key part in both our fantastic engagement and wellbeing results.

‘’The culture at Principality is renowned for being one that is friendly, open and inclusive and we actively encourage colleagues to be themselves at work. Our colleagues are fundamental to our success – they are passionate about doing the right thing for our members and supporting our local communities.’’

Benedict Gautrey, Managing Director, Great Place to Work® UK: “We are delighted to announce that Principality are officially a 2022 UK Best Workplace™ and, impressively, have hit a special recognition milestone with it being their fifth year of recognition in a row. We have seen over the years, via their anonymous employee feedback, how their values truly shape the culture and guide their decision making. Their commitment to being a responsible business, running social impact activities and unwavering commitment to supporting employees hold strong and we look forward to seeing them hit many more milestones with Great Place to Work® UK in the future.”
