RCT Theatres announce details of this year’s pantomime production

Following last year’s smash hit, award-nominated digital panto, Aladdin, RCT Theatres are delighted to announce that their brand-new production, Jack & The Beanstalk, will be staged as a live panto at the Coliseum Theatre, Aberdare, and the Park & Dare Theatre, Treorchy, this Christmas.

Audiences can experience all the fun and magic of a live family panto once more as they follow the tale of poor Jack, sent to market by his mother to sell the family’s treasured cow. Little does he know that swapping dear Daisy for a bag of magic beans will lead to an adventure he will never forget!

With a castle in the clouds, a golden hen and a larger-than-life beanstalk with a very mean giant at the top of it, this traditional family panto is full of magical special effects, spectacular scenery and giant-sized comedy.

Councillor Bob Harris, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Communities, said: “I am delighted that our RCT Theatres pantomime can once again return to the stage as a live show and we look forward to welcoming families back through the doors of our theatres.

“Last year’s digital production and cinema screenings of Aladdin was a huge success, resulting in the production being shortlisted at the first-ever UK Pantomime Association’s annual awards. This was a testament to all who worked so hard to make the family panto possible during such difficult circumstances.

“But nothing beats a visit to the theatre, especially during the festive season. It is such a magical time.

“Both our theatres are special places, steeped in history and firmly established in their local communities, offering a packed and varied programme of entertainment all year around.”

Written and directed by Richard Tunley, with original music by Nathan Jones and a cast of familiar faces, this brand-new production of Jack & The Beanstalk will feature all the magical ingredients audiences have come to expect from RCT Theatres’ annual panto.

Catch Jack & The Beanstalk at The Coliseum Theatre, Aberdare, Friday, December 2 to Sunday, December 11, and at The Park & Dare Theatre, Treorchy, Friday, December 16 to Saturday, December 24.

As part of the performance schedule there will be a Relaxed performance at each venue, a BSL performance at the Park & Dare Theatre and an Audio Described performance at the Coliseum Theatre, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their needs and abilities, can enjoy the wonder of live panto.

Tickets have been capped at 2018 prices, with adult tickets £16, concessions £13, and a Family of Four at £49, which will be welcome news to families planning their Christmas treat this year.
