Luminate is returning to Margam Country Park for 2026 with new installations, interactive experiences and 120,000 lights transforming the historic attraction after dark.
The light trail, which first launched at Margam Country Park in 2019, has since welcomed 1.5 million visitors nationwide.
Organisers say this year’s reimagined experience will be the most interactive yet, with new bespoke installations joining some returning favourites.
Margam’s iconic gothic castle will be transformed with a new digital projection covering its historic walls, while visitors will be able to explore the Ember Kingdom, known as Tanwen Y Ddraig, and get hands-on with the Light Play experience.
New for 2026 is Christmas Corner, where families will be able to follow a reindeer path to a cabin and post their letters to Lapland in the official Luminate Post Box, which lights up when letters are posted.
Elsewhere on the trail, visitors can cross the Bridge of Light and explore the Rainbow Path, with interactive games along the way.
One of these will be The Battle of the Lights, described as a tug of war with a difference.
Visitors can also dance under the snow in the Frozen Realm, which will feature a talking animation and twinkling lights designed to create a winter atmosphere.
A festive winter village will offer mulled wine and hot chocolate, while visitors can toast marshmallows over fire pits.
Creating the experience across Margam Country Park’s 1,000 acres is a major undertaking. The installation takes around 600 hours and uses 10 miles of cable alongside 120,000 lights.
The popular Wishing Wall will also return. Visitors can register online before writing their heart’s desire on a label and pinning it to the wall.
Those who take a picture and tag the Luminate team on social media will have the chance for the Luminate fairies to make one visitor’s dream come true.

Luminate will once again include dedicated dog-friendly evenings, allowing visitors to experience the trail with their four-legged friends.
Dedicated evenings will also be available for visitors with Special Educational Needs.
The event also supports charities by donating tickets, with Carers Trust Wales and Something to Look Forward to among the organisations supported through the Margam event.
