The Big Welsh Bite in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd is set to return this summer.

The popular event makes its return on August 6 and 7, celebrating all that is good about life in Rhondda Cynon Taf, with free arena shows and displays, live cookery demonstrations with a TV Chef, an array of food, drink and treats to taste and buy and loads more – all set in stunning surroundings!

Cllr Maureen Webber, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Council Business, said: “It’s been a long wait, but we are thrilled to welcome our flagship event, the Big Welsh Bite, back for 2022.

“It follows hot on the heels of a record-breaking Aberdare Festival, bringing even more family fun and entertainment to our beautiful open spaces.

“The Big Welsh Bite is one of the most popular events in Rhondda Cynon Taf and we are pleased to be joined by local food and drink producers – including some home-grown breweries – to showcase what’s on offer to our event guests. We can’t wait to see you!”

Throughout the weekend – event is open 11am – 5pm both days – there will be live arena performances from

    • Savage Skills Mountain Bike Stunt Team
    • Parkour displays and demonstrations
    • Black Mountains Falconry with their displays, shows and beautiful birds not sure you can do this
    • Duck driving and sheep dogs

The park will also host a petting farm, wellness village with activities and information from health experts.

Plus, resident Big Welsh Bite chef Geoff Tookey will be joined in the live demonstration kitchen with S4C’s Nerys Howell, who has published a range of bilingual cookery books showcasing how to make the very most out of the delicious local produce that can be enjoyed in Wales.

Keep an eye out for the popular Peach and Tomato mascots, meet the stilt-walking chef and see if you can spot our new friends, the Buzzy Bees.

After all that free fun and entertainment, make sure you grab a bite to eat or a treat to take home from the range of food and drink stalls. Enjoy the beer garden serving locally produced drinks from a range of local breweries that are flying the flag (or raising a glass) for the county borough. Don’t forget to take a   spin on the large funfair (there will be a charge for rides).

Plus you have the wider surroundings of Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, home to Lido Ponty and the huge Lido Play adventure playground.

Perhaps you could take time to pop into historic Pontypridd and have a browse in the shops or explore the new-look Market Quarter and Mill Street areas.

Big Welsh Bite 2022 is sponsored by Nathaniel Cars, who have been keeping the residents of Rhondda Cynon Taf and beyond on the road for more than 35 years, with their friendly and professional branches in Cardiff and Bridgend.
