Ahead of Cymru’s key 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Greece and Slovenia, the Football Association of Wales has teamed up with Welsh rap artist Juice Menace to release exclusive track, ‘FOR HER’.

The track focuses on Cymru’s ‘For Us, For Them, For Her’ messaging which has been used throughout the campaign, focusing on inspiring a future generation of footballers, acknowledging former Cymru internationals that paved the way and the goals and aims of the players in the squad.

From Cardiff, Juice Menace burst onto the rap scene in 2019, having been featured on BBC Radio 1, Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday’ and has recently performed at the Splash Festival in Germany and Glastonbury.

Speaking about the collaboration, Juice Menace said “I feel honoured to be asked to work on this song, I hope I have created a soundtrack that can empower young girls and women across Wales and beyond, it really is a track ‘For Her’. Everything around the team and women’s football in Wales at the moment is really exciting and I’m so happy to be involved. The team has been so inspiring throughout the campaign, and I hope the track can help take Cymru and the Red Wall to the next level in this qualifying campaign when they face Greece and Slovenia.”

The collaboration between the FAW continues a history of the football association working with and supporting Welsh artists, including recent work with Penygroes drill artist Sage Todz and previous collaborations with the BBC Horizons’ scheme.

It is hoped that the track will be the soundtrack to a successful September camp for Gemma Grainger’s Cymru side, where four points away to Greece and home to Slovenia will guarantee a FIFA Women’s World Cup play-off spot for the first time in Cymru’s history. More than 8,500 tickets have already been sold for the match against Slovenia on Tuesday 6 September at the Cardiff City Stadium (KO 19:45), and tickets are still available.
