Specialist counselling provider Breathe expands service to Swansea

Specialist counselling provider Breathe has opened additional premises in Swansea to accommodate growth as the organisation celebrates 4 years since its opening.

The social enterprise, which is based in Roath, Cardiff has opened a dedicated counselling room on Beaufort Road in Swansea.

The new space will help support the demand for face-to-face appointments to people in the area. Breathe counsellors work with people on ways to help overcome challenges in their life, finding ways forward that are best suited to each person’s individual goals.

Since its opening in August 2018, the organisation has significantly grown to over 70 people including counsellors, psychotherapists, and supervisors – working with both people and organisations.

Breathe is part of Platfform, the charity for mental health and social change. The Swansea property recently underwent a substantial refurbishment and features a dedicated counselling room.

    Christine, Head of Breathe said:

“We are thrilled to be expanding our services and having a presence in Swansea. Throughout the pandemic, our counsellors primarily worked online or over the phone, however, face-to-face is now more in demand. We are committed to providing the best possible counselling service to people and organisations. The Swansea space means we can offer more in-person appointments to people living within the area.

The impact of the pandemic on people’s mental health is still a concern. Breathe counsellors can work with people facing many kinds of challenges and support a range of mental health difficulties such as depression and anxiety. Professional support can be of significant benefit to people struggling to cope during difficult times.

“We look forward to working with more people and seeing the long-term positive change that counselling can help bring about”.

As part of their commitment to sustainable wellbeing for all, Breathe offers low-cost counselling to people who are unwaged and students with no other income at £5 per session. These sessions are provided by trainee counsellors who provide a valuable service, while the fee helps to fund clinical supervision, line management and administration.
