Santa Claus is Comin’ To Town – bringing Winter Wonderlands of synthetic ice rinks, snow globes and festive fun with him to spread Christmas magic in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

His helpers in Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s What’s On RCT events team will be sprinkling festive fun in Porth, Tonypandy, Aberdare, Ferndale and Mountain Ash throughout November and December.

There will be synthetic ice rinks to skate on, an inflatable snow globe to snap a selfie in , street entertainment to get involved with and children’s funfair rides. Plus Santa will be in his grotto and will be handing out gifts to visitors – so make sure you have your list ready for him.

Christmas in RCT events are always a great way to get into the spirit and start the Christmas countdown. Santa makes a tour of the county borough, with pit stops in a number of town centres so everyone gets a chance to see him.

The events are also a chance to showcase town centres. All of those hosting Christmas in RCT events this year have free parking and a range of shops and places to eat so you can shop local and grab a stocking-filler while you are out and make a day of it. Visit the Council’s free Christmas car parking page for more information.

Cllr Maureen Webber, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Council Business, said: “It’s the most wonderful time of the year and Santa’s helpers in our What’s On RCT have organised Winter Wonderlands in five of our town centres, so everyone can get involved.

“Our events are a chance to enjoy affordable family fun in the festive season and also a showcase for our town centres, which are filled with lovely businesses where you can buy Christmas presents and stocking fillers, or enjoy a hot chocolate or a meal.

“Looking forward to celebrating the Christmas spirit with residents of all ages at these events!”

Dates, times and locations of the Winter Wonderlands can be found here:

    Date Town   Time
25th November Porth Porth Plaza Car park 15:00 – 18:30

Please note these events will take place in the above-mentioned car park within our town centres, which will require them to be closed for the duration of the event and a little beforehand to allow the event to be set up.  please bear this in mind when visiting the town centres.

The synthetic ice rinks, snow globe and children’s funfair rides will be £1 per person, per ride.

A visit to Santa’s Grotto, which includes a gift is £2.

The Winter Wonderlands are sponsored by Nathaniel Cars, who have been keeping the residents of RCT and beyond on the road for more than 35 years, thanks to their friendly and professional teams at their car showrooms in Cardiff and Bridgend.

There will also be Christmas festivities taking place in Pontypridd delivered by Pontypridd Town Council and Treorchy delivered by Treorchy BID on Saturday 26th November and Llantrisant old town on Saturday 10thDecember.
