Pontypridd-based house builder Davies Homes has recently handed over the first of 56 new homes on the prestigious Northgate development, which forms part of a £300m regeneration project at The Works site in Ebbw Vale.

Davies Homes are delighted to be supporting the regeneration with its most sustainable and centrally located development to date, continuing its investment in sustainable brownfield housing developments in South Wales.

The 56 new homes, which include affordable housing ensure a positive collaboration with a local registered social landlord to bring the homes to Ebbw Vale.  These are the first major housing phase in a public sector regeneration of the former Corus Steelworks site, led by the Welsh Government and Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council.

Sustainability is a key focus for the Northgate homes, which will be energy-efficient, achieve an EPC A rating, and will also have solar/PV panels and space for electric vehicle charging points.

The central location of the homes affords easy and sustainable access to the train station and town centre which will support Ebbw Vale’s economy and offer excellent public transport links for residents.

Matthew Davies, Managing Director of Davies Homes, said:

“The collaboration with Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council on The Northgate site has been extremely positive and allowed us to build these fantastic new homes in Ebbw Vale, some of which are ready to move into for Christmas.   The constructive partnership with Blaenau Gwent has been maintained throughout and given us the opportunity to forge ahead with another residential development in Blaenau Gwent.  This has allowed us to secure funding from The Cardiff Region City Deal to enable us to bring forward another exciting residential development in Ashvale, Tredegar.”

Cllr John Morgan, Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council Cabinet Member for Place and Regeneration said:

“The development is an excellent example of how partnership work can benefit people, communities and the local economy. This will provide 56 high quality open market and affordable homes, which is a key Council priority. Such an exciting new development will help Blaenau Gwent complete another part of our wider regenerations aspirations for the borough.”
