The Studio has just opened Cardiff’s most luxurious yoga spot, housed within a 13,000 sq.ft training facility just a short stroll from Callaghan Square and the city centre.

One of the best kept secrets on the Cardiff fitness scene, The Studio is a boutique gym tucked away in a converted warehouse in the Cardiff Bay Business Park, a hub of regeneration in the city. Home to members from all walks of life who join for a sense of community, expert coaching, and a bit of luxury in their day.

The Studio’s founder and director, Owen Edwards, says: “Opening a yoga studio within our space was a natural step. Yoga has so many physical and mental benefits that people desperately need in this new world of hybrid working. You can’t sit yourself down on a sofa with a laptop for 8 hours a day and walk away without any muscular or postural imbalances. Without a good regime of exercise and stretching, we’ll soon have a population of 30 or 40 somethings with major back problems.”

The yoga studio was built from scratch by Owen, a former furniture designer, and includes space for 20 people. The new yoga classes run daily, adding to a full schedule of small group sessions at The Studio including Lift, focused on barbell strength training, Sweat, for intense conditioning, as well as private 1:1 personal training.

Owen was quick to make other adjustments to The Studio after shutting its doors for almost 18 months during the pandemic.

Owen comments: “Coming out of lockdown, almost all our members started working from home a few days a week, and they needed somewhere to go to break up the workday. We converted a 1,500sq ft portion of The Studio into a lounge and co-working space, so they can train, shower, grab a coffee and take Zoom meetings from one place. It’s now as much a social hub and member’s club as it is a gym.”
