Weekend cold water swims at the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, return next month.

The Lido team have confirmed cold water swim will return on Saturday, February 4, with three sessions a day on Saturdays and Sundays for an initial period of four weeks, up to February 26th.

The cold water swims return after a successful trial held at the end of last year, when swimmers enjoyed dips in the two main Lido Ponty pools, with water temperatures set at 15 degrees.

Everyone who attended said they would like to come back and most said they would prefer shorter sessions.

As a result of this, the new timetable will offer three swims a day:

    • 8am – 8.45am
    • 9am – 9.45am
    • 10am – 10.45am

Tickets are £3 per person and will go on sale from 9am on Monday, January 30 at www.lidoponty.co.uk

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure said: “It is exciting to see our lovely Lido Ponty being used in so many different ways and we are grateful to our customers for their support.

“While many people are craving the return of sunny days so they can splash in the pools or start their day with an early morning swim, there are just as many customers who have enjoyed the cold water sessions.

“We welcomed a lot of new faces during the trial period and look forward to seeing them return.”
