Construction work has started on a new housing scheme that will deliver a further 222 homes as part of the Glan Llyn development in Newport.

Miller Homes has begun work on its Caerleon Grange scheme, marking the national housebuilder’s first development in South Wales.

A sales office has now opened at the site, off Queen’s Way, where prospective buyers can find out more about the homes being built.

The development will feature a mix of two to five-bedroom properties, with some homes located in a lakeside setting.

Miller Homes also plans to open a fully designed showhome at Caerleon Grange this winter. It will be the first completed Miller Homes property in South Wales.

The site forms part of the housebuilder’s newly established South West region, which has been created to support its growth plans across Wales and the south west of England.

Hayley Ody, sales director of Miller Homes South West, said: “After months of hard work to secure the land and latterly planning consent on the site, Miller Homes is very proud to have now started work on our very first development as a business in South Wales.

“Caerleon Grange will provide greater choice in the new homes market for potential homeowners looking to move to Glan Llyn, and the opportunity to buy from an established developer who, while breaking new ground in this area of the country, have been building new homes for more than 90 years.

“We’re all focused towards building our first homes at Caerleon Grange and looking forward to opening our showhome at the development in the coming months. It will represent a landmark moment for us to have our first completed Miller Homes showhome in South Wales and we hope to mark that in style at our launch.”

Miller Homes’ parcel of land is located within the former Llanwern Steelworks site in the eastern area of the wider Glan Llyn project.

It neighbours green spaces and community facilities and is also close to Newport Retail Park.

The company’s new South West region is based in Bristol. Following the launch of its first Glan Llyn site, Miller Homes intends to develop new homes at future sites in Yeovil and Bridgwater.

The housebuilder said it will also continue to explore further opportunities for growth in Wales.
