STRICTLY star Amy Dowden has told how she is preparing to host a variety show to be attended by Princess Anne.

The Welsh Variety Extravaganza is due to take place in Cardiff on Friday and will raise money for Tenovus Cancer Care.

Amy told GB News: “It’s going to be an incredible night, but it’s such a brilliant charity there’ll be ten of us and it is going to be full of Welsh talent.

“We’ve got singers, the Welsh male voice choir, you name it, and we even have a Royal in attendance because Princess Anne is also going to be there.”

In an interview with Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster, she said she and her husband will also perform: “So we’re going to be performing two dances, a rhumba and a jive as well as myself hosting the night, so we’re really looking forward to it.

“I absolutely love going home and performing in my home nation.

“I’m certainly proud to be Welsh and especially for this incredible charity which was founded in Wales.”

Amy joined Strictly in 2017 and married Ben Jones who is also a professional dancer.

They both run a dance school called Art in Motion, based in Cradley in the West Midlands.

Amy and Ben became British National Latin Dance Champions in 2017 and were the first all-British couple to win the title in 30 years.

She has also made a documentary about her struggle with Crohn’s disease which won a BAFTA Cymru award in 2021.
