Local building group R&M Williams gathered forty volunteers to roll up their sleeves and help with clearing litter from Gelliswick beach and beyond on the Milford Haven waterway.
The team from R&M along with family, friends and even pets braved the elements on Saturday 18th August to clean up rubbish from the Pembrokeshire coast, a must-visit attraction at this time of year.
Allen Evans, Construction Director at R&M Williams said:
“We have so many great partnerships in West Wales and having worked closely with Pembrokeshire council in recent years, it was brilliant to be able to help the wider community with something as important as keeping their environment clean.
“Gelliswick beach is such a popular place to visit at this time of year – everybody from ramblers and runners to family and friends come to Pembrokeshire for its beautiful beaches and unfortunately, with heavy crowds comes heavy pollution.
“The team at R&M were able to clear so much litter from the site, and in just a couple of hours we were left with piles of bin bags full of rubbish. Everybody got really stuck in and it was great to see how much of an impact a day like this can make – there were determined, smiling faces everywhere despite the rain!”

The afternoon was followed by a celebration at Pembrokeshire Yacht Club, where volunteers got stuck in to a well-deserved BBQ and live music that lasted into the early evening.
Allen added: “We’d like to give huge thanks to those who travelled from all around to clean up the beach, and to our local supporters from Milford Haven; Enviroventure Waste Management, John Ling Electrical, LBS Builders Merchants and JP Scaffolding, who all gave a brilliant helping hand.

“Conservation is an important issue wherever you’re based, but with sites like Gelliswick beach that draw in crowds for their scenery, it becomes all the more clear that we need to be doing everything we can. A little help really does go a long way and if we all do our bit, we can keep our beaches beautiful.”
