Bridgend County Borough Council welcomes its Cabinet’s approval of modifying the construction contract for works at Cosy Corner, Porthcawl.

Plans for the site include an array of up-to-date features, ranging from community facilities, space for retail units, changing provisions for users of the nearby marina, to outdoor children’s play areas and more.  These ambitions for the area have been facilitated by additional funding of £1m from Welsh Government.

A financial uplift to the construction contract has been necessary to accommodate the plans for the development, as well as for the safe removal of asbestos discovered on the site following in-depth assessments of the ground conditions.

We are committed to the regeneration of the Porthcawl area and fulfilling the potential that the locality holds.

We are excited about the plans for the area and aim to provide the best facilities for everyone to enjoy.

We are happy to say that the outlined plans for the site, as well as the safe removal of the contaminated land, are all achievable within the capital programme allocation.

Please be assured that the welfare of the community is always our priority. The development of Cosy Corner will ensure that residents and visitors alike, will continue to benefit from the area for many years to come.

Councillor Neelo Farr, Cabinet Minister for Regeneration
