Subject to regulatory approval, Principality Building Society has appointed Rajeev Marwaha as Chief Risk Officer to replace Mike Jones who retires next month.

Mr Marwaha, former CRO at Saffron Building Society, has a well-established career in finance, including risk roles at Nationwide and Santander. He was recently the CRO of credit card fintech group Tymit.

Julie-Ann Haines, CEO at Principality said: “I’m so pleased to welcome a talented chief risk officer in Raj to our team. Raj is an experienced CRO who has extensive experience of risk and compliance gained within market leading financial services companies. He also brings a strong tech focus and offers diversity of thought and experience. His appointment is tinged with sadness, however, as it means we say goodbye to Mike Jones, who is a well-respected and much-loved member of the Principality family. His huge experience and dry wit will be missed but we wish him all the best for the future.”

Raj Marwaha said: “I’m so happy to be joining one of the leading building societies in the UK. My experience is steeped in the values of member-owned building societies, and Principality is so well-respected within the industry. I can’t wait to get started and to meet my new colleagues.”

Mike Jones retires as Chief Risk Officer from Principality Building Society

Mike Jones joined Principality in 1997 as commercial lending manager, and went on to become chief risk officer in 2009, before being appointed to the Board in 2013, serving for 10 years.

Mike said: “It has been a privilege to serve our members for the past 25 years and to help grow the business during that time. I have so many wonderful memories and have made friends with some inspirational people. I will keep in touch with many of my colleagues, but will undoubtedly miss my day to day interactions with them all. I hope they, and Principality, go from strength to strength.”
