Teams from across Wales’s alternative telecomsprovider, Ogi, are preparing to take to the road this summer to support a range of community-based festival and events, kicking things off at the Milford Haven Carnival and Ogi Porthcawl 10K at the beginning of July.

More than 10 events across Ogi’s rollout areas are included in the roadshow, with everything from sporting events to beach parties and food festivals on the menu.

Gaining momentum over the last two years, Ogi is now the leading alternative choicein south Wales, with its ultrafast and ultra-reliable network bringing full fibre connectivity to Welsh towns and villages – often for the very first time.

The broadband and voice service provider has already supported a range of community groups and events over the last few years – ranging from a community garden in Llantwit Major to stadium sponsorship in Haverfordwest. Now, as the summer events calendar fills up, staff are venturing out to support some of south Wales’s most iconic family-friendly events.

Starting with Milford Haven Carnival last weekend, Ogi were also headline sponsors of this year’s Ogi Porthcawl 10K – where the Ogi Jogi fun run featured for the very first time – before heading to an urban beach party in Blackwood, Maesteg’s Keeper of the Colliery festival, a family fun day in Caldicot, and an event with Valleys Kids in Rhondda Cynon Taf during the school holidays.

Preparing to go on the road, Head of Brand and Engagement, Sarah Vining, said: “To be part of these fantastic events, right in heart of our communities is an opportunity for us to see first-hand what people want and need from their broadband provider.

“Each event will be different, but you can expect everything from fun filled digital challenges with our blaze pods reaction timer game, to giveaways and next-generation tech demos. We literally can’t wait to get on the road.”

Community teams will also be on hand at local events, sharing some of the work they’ve been doing to support local grassroots clubs and activities through Ogi’s dedicated community fund ‘Cefnogi’.

Now working in over 60 towns and villages, the company has welcomed 6,000-customers in less than a year, with satisfaction in the brand and service consistently high, including a Trustpilot rating that’s higher than any other UK internet service provider.

The workforce has grown in numbers too. Since its launch in 2021, Ogi has gone from a team of 20 to a 200-strong workforce today, based in four dedicated offices across the region. Recruiting, on average, around 3 people every week, and with hundreds supported through the supply chain, it makes Ogi one of Wales’s fastest growing businesses, and one of the UK’s top 10 fibre investors.
