A unique display of daisies at Cardiff Castle will open to the public this Saturday (5 August).

Over a thousand expertly crafted daisies will feature in the free display, which runs until 13 August, as the Forever Flowers campaign organised by City Hospice returns for its third year.

Forever Flowers provides an opportunity for people to unite and remember cherished family members, friends, colleagues and loved ones with unique and lasting tributes. This year, supporters were invited to ‘Dedicate a Daisy’ to a loved one.

Those who have purchased a flower will also be able to join together for a special Celebration of Life event at the castle on Thursday 10 August. The free event, hosted by City Hospice’s Chief Executive Liz Booyse, will feature performances from Rock Choirs from across Wales, a poetry reading and contributions from patients and families that the charity has supported.

Liz Booyse, Chief Executive of City Hospice, said: “Forever Flowers is an opportunity for everyone, not just those who were cared for by City Hospice, to remember loved ones.

“As we return to the iconic Cardiff Castle for our third beautiful display with over a thousand daisies dedicated to loved ones, we are reminded of how important this campaign is. It provides a space for people to come together, talk about grief and celebrate the lives of those we have lost.

“Last year’s Celebration of Life event was a personal highlight for me; a wonderful summer evening filled with music and poignant speeches among the Forever Flowers. We look forward to uniting in remembrance again and sharing these special moments with the community at this year’s event.”

Forever Flowers supports the work of City Hospice, the only provider of home-based specialist palliative care in the capital. In addition to providing care and services to patients with terminal or life limiting illnesses, the charity offers counselling and support services for their patients’ families.
