Heather Anstey-Myers has been appointed as the next National Chair of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Wales, succeeding Richard Selby MBE DL who will step down from the role in November after six years of dedicated service.
Heather’s appointment follows a competitive selection process led nationally by the Institute of Directors.
As National Chair, Heather will work alongside Jo Price, Nations Manager, who leads the IoD’s work in Wales. Heather’s role will focus on working closely with and supporting IoD Wales’ regional committees across north Wales, mid Wales, south Wales and south-west Wales, helping to strengthen member engagement and ensure the views and experiences of directors from across the country are represented.
She will also support the IoD’s engagement with policymakers and the wider business community, championing leadership excellence, good governance and the interests of IoD members across Wales.
An experienced business leader with an extensive background in manufacturing, economic development and business representation, Heather has served as an IoD Ambassador since 2024 and is Chief Executive Officer of Manufacturing Wales. She previously served as Interim Chief Executive Officer of Hybu Cig Cymru and Chief Executive Officer of Chambers Wales South East, South West and Mid.
The appointment follows the completion of Richard Selby’s tenure, during which he has played a leading role in strengthening the profile of the Institute in Wales and ensuring the voice of directors has been represented on key economic and policy issues.

Heather Anstey-Myers said: “I am honoured to have been appointed as the next National Chair of the Institute of Directors Wales. Having been an IoD Ambassador, I have seen first-hand the value the organisation brings to directors and business leaders across Wales through its commitment to good governance, leadership and professional development.
“Wales is entering an important new chapter, with businesses facing both opportunities and challenges in a changing economic and political environment. I look forward to working with our members, regional committees and stakeholders to ensure the voice of Welsh business continues to be heard, while supporting directors to lead resilient, innovative and successful organisations.”
Richard Selby MBE DL said: “It has been a privilege to serve as Wales National Chair over the past six years. During that time, I have had the opportunity to work alongside exceptional business leaders and dedicated volunteers who are passionate about strengthening the Welsh economy and supporting the next generation of directors. I wish Heather every success in the role and look forward to seeing the Institute in Wales continue to grow and thrive under her leadership.”
Jon Geldart, Director General of the Institute of Directors, said: “Heather will be building on the strong work of the Institute over the last few years. Her experience and strong grounding in the fabric of the Welsh business community will ensure the voice of directors is heard both in the Senedd and across the business community.”
The Institute of Directors is the UK’s leading membership organisation for directors and business leaders. Through professional development, networking, policy engagement and expert guidance, IoD Wales supports directors from businesses of all sizes while helping shape a stronger, more resilient Welsh economy.
