    Proud Mary Swansea appoints venue manager & announces opening date

    Swansea’s newest venue, Proud Mary Pub on Wind Street, has announced it will open its doors on Friday 8 September following a £1.7 million transformation by operators REKOM.

    Following the success of the launch of Proud Mary Pub in Cardiff in October 2022, Swansea is the next UK location chosen to welcome the traditional pub with a modern ‘party’ twist. As part of Proud Mary’s offering, guests are guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome and invited to try freshly prepared food, the latest sporting action and live music at weekends.

    Venue manager Mathew Cassidy and his deputy, Mollie Georgiou, will be leading a team of 40 to make sure Proud Mary Pub gets off to a great start. Mathew has more than 16 years’ experience working in hospitality and the late-night industry and has been working at other REKOM owned venues since March.

    He said: “It’s been amazing to welcome guests to Proud Mary Cardiff over the last year, and I’m confident that everyone will be just as excited for the concept to come to Swansea’s iconic Wind Street. It’s exciting to be a part of a new opening again, and we’re looking forward to welcoming returning customers, and new ones too!

    “Proud Mary Pub Swansea has a cosy, traditional feel of a local pub combined with modern appeal, so whether you want a quiet drink after work or are up for a late-night party, we’ll deliver!”

    Operating over two floors, Proud Mary Pub has capacity of 600 and will open from 12 noon daily (closing 2am Sunday to Thursday and 3am Friday and Saturday). With a range of weekly events, including student nights, pub quizzes and burger & beer nights, Proud Mary Swansea will also host regular live music events. There will be 14 TV screens of various sizes showing key sporting fixtures as well as a projector, where guests can also reserve a booth with its own TV screen and table service, so they don’t miss any of the action.

    Mathew and Mollie are now recruiting, full and part time positions – from five to 35 hours a week – for front of house and kitchen staff.  “We are not necessarily looking for previous experience, but personality is everything.  If you are up for a party and enjoy being part of a team, then we want to hear from you.” Mathew added.  Applications can be made by sending a CV to [email protected].

    Proud Mary Swansea will mark the eighth Proud Mary Pub. Other locations include Denmark, Finland and Norway, with Cardiff and Swansea being the current locations in the UK.
