Isuzu UK is thrilled to announce that renowned Welsh rugby player Shane Williams has once again chosen the Isuzu D-Max as his vehicle of choice, opting for the prestigious top-of-the-range V-Cross version for the seventh consecutive year. This exciting partnership highlights the shared values of toughness, reliability, and a relentless pursuit of excellence that both Isuzu and Shane Williams embody.

Shane Williams, MBE, a true icon in the world of rugby, has consistently demonstrated his dedication, strength, and determination on the field, earning him a place among the sport’s legends. Williams is Wales’ record try scorer in Six Nations Championships and Wales’ record try scorer in Rugby World Cups. His unwavering passion for endurance sports, including triathlons and Ironman events, resonates seamlessly with Isuzu UK’s values, epitomized by its partnership with Tough Mudder as well as its rugged D-Max vehicles. Just as Williams’ determination drives him to conquer arduous challenges, the D-Max’s durability mirrors the toughness required to excel in demanding situations. This partnership embodies a shared commitment to relentless perseverance and unwavering strength, forging a powerful connection between the world of endurance sports and Isuzu’s resilient automotive engineering.

Off the field, he brings the same level of commitment to his choices, which is why he has opted for the Isuzu D-Max – a vehicle that perfectly mirrors his own rugged spirit. Shane’s pick-up of choice is the New-Look Isuzu D-Max V-Cross in Mercury Silver colour. The range-topping vehicle comes with a wide selection of equipment as standard, including gun metal exterior styling, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a 9” multifunction colour touchscreen, and reversing camera. The vehicle’s suspension has been refined to improve the ride and ensure comfort, even when it is not carrying a load, all while maintaining its capacity to carry over one-tonne payload. The D-Max V-Cross pick-up can also tow up to 3.5 tonnes. The truck comes in handy with a range of off-road features, such as a 4WD shift-on-the-fly system, rear differential lock, and water wading depth of up to 800mm deep, making it the perfect choice for any off-road adventurer, allowing Shane to take on any challenge he encounters.

To collect the new vehicle, the team from Isuzu UK met with the rugby legend at his home village club Amman United. During the handover, Williams spoke about the highlights of his recent years with Isuzu pick-ups. “I’ve had the vehicle for six years. I certainly enjoyed it, it’s never let me down. It’s so versatile, everyone’s got different works in life, they have their own hobbies, and do different things, of course, and this does it all.” Shane has also added that “D-Max is just the perfect car for my lifestyle. I seem to be on the road quite a lot, it’s got a lot of room on the back to take things with me, and it navigates the roads really well.”

Having owned two previous generations of Isuzu pick-ups, the rugby legend knows the car like no other. “It’s always looked after me. It’s a really enjoyable car as well, this car will get you to where you want to go, you’ll have fun along the way, and you can get all your family in the back as well, so what’s not to like about it?” He summarised the experience with D-Max as “The best thing about this car is it does exactly what it says on the tin – it goes everywhere for you; you never have an issue with it and I’m totally grateful for that.” To find out more about Shane Williams’ experience with Isuzu D-Max, watch the whole interview.

Shane also shared his enthusiasm for his ongoing partnership with Isuzu UK, stating, “I’m delighted to once again choose the Isuzu D-Max for my personal vehicle. Its durability and performance perfectly match my lifestyle, and the V-Cross version takes it to a whole new level of reliability and capability. I’m excited to continue this journey with Isuzu and experience all the amazing adventures ahead.”

Commenting on this exciting news, Alan Able, Managing Director, Isuzu UK, said, “We are honoured that Shane Williams has once again chosen Isuzu and the D-Max V-Cross as his vehicle of choice. His dedication to excellence, both on and off the rugby field, aligns perfectly with Isuzu’s commitment to delivering smarter, stronger, and safer vehicles. We look forward to continuing this successful partnership and supporting Shane in his endeavours.”
