The Mayor officially opened Rhymney Library Hub this week on Monday 8th January, after an exciting refurbishment thanks to funding from Caerphilly County Borough Council and Welsh Government’s Capital Transformation Fund.

The new improvements include refurnished and modernisation of both floors of the library, as well as an innovative education, reading and support hub for residents, council staff and partner organisations.
Many of the new features and design which the community can now use, were taken from a Community Voice Survey carried out with local residents.

The Rhymney Library Hub offers a new holistic support environment allowing our residents an entry point into council services. A range of council support services will be available for you to speak to including Caerphilly Cares, the Council Tax Team, Council Benefits Team and the Employment Engagement Team.

Customers can benefit from upgraded broadband, modern office spaces and private meeting rooms. The first floor has been developed into the ‘Idris Davies Community Learning Hub’ featuring a state-of-the-art, vibrant learning space which will become a focal point to continue supporting the Welsh Language and Culture.

Cllr Carol Andrews, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Communities commented, “I am delighted that Rhymney Library Hub has reopened and that residents of the county borough will be able to experience the additional benefits that Rhymney Library Hub will deliver to the local community.

“As well as the fantastic library, residents will be able to benefit from access to several council support services. Rhymney Library has historically always served as a hub for the community, but the improvements to the facility will now allow for this crucial resource to become so much more.”

Rhymney Library Hub has reopened without an operating lift. For those with limited mobility, services will be moved to the ground floor as and when needed until the new lift is installed.
