Skybound Therapies, a world-renowned behaviour analysis and therapy provider, has opened its newly expanded therapy centre at its headquarters in Wiston near Haverfordwest.
Skybound Therapies provides tailored support to help improve the quality of life for individuals with learning, behavioural or emotional difficulties. It was founded in 2012 by Risca Solomon, who first discovered behaviour analysis when looking for ways to support her foster brother Dan, who has autism.
Her journey to help raise Dan, which she documented on YouTube, led her to discover Behavioural Analysis. She went on to train as a behaviour analyst, and eventually started Skybound Therapies to support others.
Skybound Therapies now employs 44 staff and delivers support in locations across the UK and internationally. However, its therapy centre in Pembrokeshire remains the hub of its activities, where Risca and her team provide an intensive service for families who visit from all over the world.
Intensive therapy at the centre helps with behaviours including feeding skills, speech, communication, self-help skills, and toilet training.
Due to overwhelming demand, Risca initiated a major upgrade and expansion of the centre, which has now opened to clients with enough space to run two therapy sessions simultaneously.
The newly upgraded and expanded centre features three different bathrooms for teaching toilet behaviours, more tools and facilities to help develop functional living skills, additional rooms and equipment for therapy, and a private space for families to rest and unwind while their loved ones engage in therapy.
