Four friends from North Wales took on a mountain bike challenge to raise money for Travis Perkins’ charity partner, Alzheimer’s Society. Organised by Regional Director, Dafydd Jones, the challenge saw Dafydd and three of his colleagues undertake a gruelling three-day 120 mile bike ride.

He was joined by fellow Travis Perkins colleagues Andrew Craig, a Travis Perkins Account Manager, Rob Conde the Branch Manager of Wrexham, and Matt Peate the Wrexham Travis Perkins Hire Manager.

The team departed from the Travis Perkins Wrexham branch on  9th April and followed a route travelling North East that saw them finish at Travis Perkins in Caernarfon on the 11th April

The route took them over 16,400 feet of elevation covering some of North Wales’ toughest terrain, including the trails around The Denbighshire Moors and Gwydir Forest, and a challenging ride up to the summit of the highest peak in Wales, Eryri (Mount Snowdon).

Dafydd Jones, Regional Director at Travis Perkins said: “For those who know me physical exertion isn’t exactly my forte, but in really challenging times, it’s important that we support the community where we can. By undertaking this challenging bike ride we wanted to fundraise for Alzheimer’s Society and raise awareness of the outstanding work they do for those living with dementia. We want to say a big thank you to everyone who donated and is helping us achieve this target.”

Lizzie Pearl, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Alzheimer’s Society said:

“We have been amazed by the incredible efforts Travis Perkins colleagues have shown to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society. Colleagues have gone above and beyond for our new partnership, and we wanted to say a huge thank you from everyone here at Alzheimer’s Society.

“We’re incredibly grateful and in awe of the Three-Day Bike Challenge taken on by Dafydd, Andrew, Rob and Matt. The money raised by our brilliant partnership will support our vital research and support services, providing help and hope to all those affected by dementia.”

The team have raised almost £6,000 on their JustGiving page and have a fundraising target of £10,000. If you would like to donate, please visit the JustGiving page here:  https://justgiving.com/page/TPNWChallenge

Earlier this year Travis Perkins announced a three-year partnership with Alzheimer’s Society, a charity that works with people living with and affected by dementia. The partnership will raise vital funds and awareness for the support, care and research that Alzheimer’s Society carries out.
