A Wrexham man who subjected his former partner to a vicious and prolonged attack has been jailed.

Daniel Keith Evans, of Ffordd Offa, Rhos, headbutted, kicked, bit and burnt the victim with a cigarette in the incident at his home in April last year.

The 46-year-old who appeared before Caernarfon Crown Court last week (Thursday, May 9th) was jailed for two years for the attack.

He was also handed a restraining order, preventing him from contacting the victim for the next 10 years.

Police were contacted on the morning of Saturday, April 29th last year by a witness reporting Evans had assaulted the victim after she had managed to escape Evans’ home.

The incident began in the early hours of the morning when Evans started arguing with the victim about their past relationship, and how he suspected she had been unfaithful.

Evans told the victim to leave, before violently attacking her over a prolonged period.

As well as headbutting her and pulling her hair, he punched her so hard she fell to the floor, before kicking her to the head.

Once she was able to leave, she ran to a neighbour and asked for help.

Evans fled the address, but was arrested later that morning.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable April Shaw said: “We welcome this sentence following this shocking and prolonged attack, that left the victim fearing for her life.

“Her bravery in reporting it to us, and her continued support during the investigation, led to Evans’ incarceration. We know how difficult this can be for victims.

“It is our priority to tackle all reports of violence against women. Domestic abuse is a serious offence, and we will continue to bring offenders to justice.

“I would urge anyone who is experiencing domestic abuse or violence to report it to us or reach out to a support agency. We will listen to you and investigate any report fully.”
