How does a game of live Blackjack work?

The classic game of Blackjack has been through a journey. First, we had traditional Blackjack. Then this evolved into online Blackjack. And soon we had live Blackjack.

Live Blackjack is a unique blend of the traditional casino game and modern technology, bringing the style of the original game directly to your screen. It’s an online game where players can see a live dealer in real-time.

Take a look at how a game of live Blackjack works, from start to finish:

    Setting up the game

The first step in playing a game of live Blackjack is choosing an online casino. Make sure you select a reputable online casino with live dealer games that ensure high-quality streaming and professional dealers, along with a safe and secure gaming environment.

Then, you can go to the live casino section and choose a live Blackjack table. Tables may vary based on betting limits, rules, and the dealer, but choose a game that suits your preferences.

    The game begins

When a player joins a live Blackjack table, they are greeted by a live dealer via a high-definition video stream. The dealer is located in a studio designed to replicate a physical casino, complete with a real Blackjack table and cards.

Before the cards are dealt, players place their bets by clicking on virtual chips on the screen and placing them in the betting area where they choose. Be sure to always wager what you can afford to lose, as this is a game of chance.

    The dealing process

The dealer will then deal two cards to each player and two to themselves. The player’s cards are dealt face up, while the dealer has one card face up and one card face down – known as the ‘hole’ card.

The aim is to get a hand value as close to 21 as possible, without exceeding it. You will be playing against the dealer, not other players.

Each player then makes decisions in turn, on what to do with their hand. Players can choose to:

Hit – Receive another card to try and improve their hand.

Stand – Keep their current hand and end their turn.

Double down – Double their initial bet and receive only one more card.

Split – If the first two cards are of the same value, the player can split them into two separate hands, each with its own bet.

After all players have completed their actions, it’s then the dealer’s turn. The dealer reveals their hole card and must hit until their hand value is at least 17 before they can stand.

    Determining the outcome

Once the dealer’s hand is complete, each player’s hand is compared to the dealer’s hand.

If a player’s hand is higher than the dealer’s, the player succeeds.

If a player has Blackjack – a card with a value of 10 and an ace (value of 11) – they succeed. The same also applies to the dealer having a Blackjack.

If the dealer busts, all remaining players succeed.

If a player and dealer have the same hand value, this results in a draw.
