City Hospice, Cardiff’s local hospice, has retained its Royal Patronage.
Following the review of the patronages it was announced, on the first anniversary of Their Majesties’ Coronation, that His Majesty The King would be delighted to retain the patronage of City Hospice.
His Majesty first became Patron of the charity in 1998 as The Prince of Wales. During his 70th birthday year, His Majesty visited the charity’s centre Ty Hosbis in Whitchurch and met with volunteers, nurses, counsellors, patients and families to hear about the vital care that City Hospice provides across Cardiff.
City Hospice is the only provider of home-based specialist palliative care in the capital. The charity provides care and services including welfare advice and complementary therapies to patients with terminal or life limiting illnesses such as cancer and dementia, as well as bereavement support and counselling for the families of its patients.
Liz Booyse, Chief Executive of City Hospice, said: “We are honoured that His Majesty The King is continuing his royal patronage of City Hospice and it is particularly special to receive this news in our 40th anniversary year.
“This support helps showcase our work in the community: shining a spotlight on the specialist palliative care we provide for patients, bereavement services for families and the contributions of our wonderful team and volunteers.”
