Entries to the Brecon Carreg CDF 10K are close to selling out – meaning runners don’t have long to claim their place if they want to take part.

The event on Sunday 1 September is set to be its biggest yet with 6,000 participants already registered to run.

With less than 15% of entries remaining, event organisers Run 4 Wales, are urging keen runners who are yet to sign up, to do so quickly before it’s too late.

The race is extremely popular for those looking to take on a sightseeing tour of the Welsh capital, or for those wanting to get a race in before the Principality Building Society Cardiff Half Marathon in October.

Highlights include running past the historic Cardiff Castle and iconic Principality Stadium. The race then continues through the heart of central Cardiff, before crossing the River Taff and heading towards the leafy green suburbs of Pontcanna and the grade 2 listed parkland of Llandaff and Pontcanna Fields.

Runners will then pass Sophia Gardens, the home of Welsh cricket, before a grandstand finish in the Edwardian Civic Centre.

There is also the option to take part in a 2K race which gives budding athletes and families the chance to absorb the race day atmosphere too.

Matt Newman, Chief Executive at Run 4 Wales, said: “The Brecon Carreg CDF 10K is a fantastic event, with a great atmosphere and is fast becoming one of the largest 10Ks in Wales.

“This year is set to be even bigger and better, and we’d urge runners to snap up those remaining spaces now to avoid disappointment.”

General entry costs £30, or participants can sign up for £1 when pledging to raise £125 for the event’s lead charity Kidney Wales.
