Mental health charity, Mind in Gwent, will be the lead charity of the 2026 ABP Newport Marathon Festival.

The charity will be continuing its partnership with the event after coming on board alongside Mind in 2025.

Next year’s event takes place on Sunday 19 April and entries are now open to run for Mind in Gwent.

Runners who wish to fundraise for the charity can join the team across any of the 10K, half marathon and marathon races for just £10 when pledging to raise £150, if running the 10K, £250 if entering the half marathon or £350 if taking on the full marathon distance.

All money raised will go towards helping provide mental health support for those who need it.

Dave Bland, Chief Executive Officer at Mind in Gwent, said: “Mind in Gwent is thrilled to be the Lead Charity for Newport Marathon Festival 2026. We are committed to raising awareness of mental health and ensuring every person in Gwent experiencing a mental health problem gets the support and respect they deserve.

“Mind in Gwent has been involved with Newport Marathon since the beginning and have seen the event grow into a festival and landmark event for Newport, Gwent, and Wales. Our partnership with Newport Marathon Festival will increase mental health awareness in our region and raise vital funds to provide much needed services for local communities across Gwent.”

Physical activity and being outside is well known to have a positive impact on mental wellbeing so those who join Mind in Gwent’s team of fundraisers will not only be helping to provide vital resources but will also be benefiting from taking part too.

They’ll also be helping to raise awareness of the charity’s important work.

Matt Newman, Chief Executive at event organisers Run 4 Wales, added: “It’s great to have Mind in Gwent as our lead charity partner for the 2026 ABP Newport Marathon Festival.

“The charity is so important as mental health conditions can affect anyone at any time. They ensure that no one has to battle with their mental health alone.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming back the charity and their team of runners at next year’s event.”
