A 20-year-old has been convicted of the Cardiff murder of a “generous, caring and thoughtful” man.

A jury at Newport Crown Court yesterday (May 29) found Georgie Tannetta, 20, guilty of murdering James Brogan.

Tannetta will be sentenced on June 27.

James Brogan died after being stabbed by Tannetta on November 12.

He was found with serious injuries near the ‘Train’ park off Coleford Road, St Mellons, and died in hospital shortly after.

At the time of his death, James Brogan’s family described James as “generous, caring and thoughtful – a comedian who loved making people smile and laugh”.

Detective Inspector Rebecca Merchant from the South Wales Police Major Crime Investigation Team, said:

“James Brogan was very much loved by his family and friends and he is missed by them every day. I hope the conviction at Newport Crown Court today provides some comfort to all who knew and loved him.
“This tragic case highlights the devastating and far-reaching consequences of knife crime. South Wales Police is committed to tackling knife crime by preventing people carrying these weapons and robustly dealing with those we find involved in such criminality. If you have suspicions that someone may be carrying a knife, please contact police. Speaking out could save someone’s life.”
