Anwyl Homes has appointed a new managing director for Cheshire and North Wales as the business aims to grow across the region.

With over 25 years’ experience in the housebuilding industry, Mark Calvert will oversee operations in Cheshire and North Wales as well as parts of Shropshire, Wirral and Greater Manchester, supporting the acquisition of new land and bringing new communities to fruition.

He will be based at Anwyl’s head office in Ewloe, Flintshire.

A graduate of Manchester University, with a degree in civil and structural engineering, Mark began his career as an engineer with Fairclough Homes. He progressed to land manager before rising through the ranks at Taylor Wimpey from land director to managing director. Prior to joining Anwyl, he held a senior leadership position at Kellen Homes.

Mark said: “I’ve always been passionate about creating communities – it’s what drew me to housebuilding from the outset. Anwyl Homes has an excellent reputation as a family-owned business and I’m proud to be joining a company committed to quality and long-term growth. My priorities include building on the strong reputation of the business, creating sustainable communities, and mentoring the next generation of talent in our team.”

Mark recognises the current challenges in the sales market but is confident in Anwyl’s ability to stand out. He added: “Our commitment to maintain excellent build quality and offer outstanding customer service and thoughtful design is what sets us apart. I look forward to helping Anwyl become best-in-class in everything we do.”

Currently living in Greater Manchester, and a father to three daughters, Mark has longstanding connections to the region, having worked across Cheshire and North Wales earlier in his career.

Phil Dolan, chief operating officer at Anwyl, said: “Mark brings his wealth of industry knowledge and strong regional experience to the role. His track record in leadership and building strong teams will be invaluable as we continue to grow, acquire land in new areas and deliver high quality homes across the North West and North Wales.”

Anwyl has also promoted Lucy Crawford to engineering manager, Tomos Hughes to site manager and Tom Mullins to strategic land manager.

Celebrating its 95th anniversary this year, the company continues to invest in its people as well as new land and developments across the North West and North Wales.
