If you’d told Wrexham fans five years ago they’d be rubbing shoulders with Leicester, Southampton and Ipswich in the Championship, most would’ve smiled politely and carried on drinking. But here we are.
According to the latest simulations from Theyscored, Wrexham are predicted to finish 11th with 63 points and a goal difference of +2. Not bad at all for their first season back at this level.
Their playoff chances? 13%. Direct promotion? 2%. Winning the whole thing? Less than 1% but stranger things have happened in football, and if any club thrives on defying the odds, it’s Wrexham.
They’re expected to avoid relegation comfortably, with less than a 2% chance of the drop. That alone should be cause for celebration in North Wales.

Ryan and Rob might not be planning a Premier League party just yet, but a mid-table finish and a real sniff at the playoffs? That’s a solid base to build something even bigger.
Wrexham in the Championship. Not just surviving. Competing.
As for the rest of the league, Birmingham are by far the clear favourites to go up with a 70% chance of automatic promotion and a whopping 47% shot at finishing champions. Sheffield United and Ipswich both follow close behind.
Playoff drama is almost guaranteed, as always with the championship. Leicester, Ipswich, Southampton and Coventry are the main contenders with over 30% chance each. But West Brom, Bristol City and Middlesbrough are lurking just behind ready to pounce if any one of these teams slip. Wrexham might just sneak in after all if everything clicks, only time will tell!
At the other end of the table, Watford, Preston and Stoke are all staring at the trapdoor, each with a 23% or more chance of relegation. It’s going to be a crazy ride!
Time will tell but if Theyscored are right, if so then Wales could be in for a shock as their standout club can avoid relegation and potentially edge their way into the last playoff spot.
