This week, adidas and Jess Fishlock teamed up to surprise a girls’ team in Cardiff and gift them a piece of history; the adidas KONEKTIS match ball that Fishlock scored the Wales women’s team’s first major tournament goal with.
Playing on a pitch that adidas has had redesigned to feature a mural of the Welsh midfielder, the Splott Albion FC girls were delighted when it became clear that they would also get to meet their hero.
Following a match and some shooting drills, the girls got the opportunity to ask Fishlock about her experiences at UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 and see the adidas F50 Sparkfusion boots that she was wearing when she scored her historic goal against France. The KONEKTIS ball that she scored with will now stay with the club as inspiration for the next generation of aspiring players.
The occasion also marked Fishlock’s first chance to see the pitch at Splott Park that has been redesigned in her honour.
Local creative agency UNIFY and artist DREAMCOURTS worked together with support from adidas to decorate the pitch with a lifelike mural of Jess Fishlock in the famous red of Wales; with the intention that it might inspire the next Jess to follow in her footsteps.

Speaking about the day, Jess Fishlock said: “I don’t think I’ll ever forget the feeling of scoring our first major tournament goal and I’m so happy to be able to share a piece of that with the next generation. Hopefully whenever the girls see the ball in the clubhouse, they’ll believe that they can do the same one day.
I grew up coming to Splott Park with my Dad to play football and to be welcomed by all the girls in full Wales kits, playing on a pitch with a mural of me on it, has been so special and something that will take a while to sink in!”
