Llandovery Community Cinema is set to serve up a unique evening of film, food and foot-tapping fun this summer, as part of its Welsh Language Film Programme funded by Ffilm Cymru.
On Saturday 16 August, the Rhys Prichard Memorial Hall will host a special screening of Cymer Dy Siar (with English subtitles) – a heartfelt and humorous tale about a three-sister country and western band navigating life, love and loyalty in rural Wales.
The evening promises to be more than just a trip to the cinema. After the film, audiences can swap their seats for the dance floor with a lively barn dance and line dancing session led by an instructor. Guests are encouraged to bring their own drinks, both soft and alcoholic, and join in the fun.
Before the screening, there will also be a community meal at 6pm, with visitors invited to bring a plate of food to share.
Cymer Dy Siar, based on the hit S4C series Tair Chwaer, blends Western charm with Welsh voices and features Pobol y Cwm favourites Donna Edwards and Jonathan Nefydd. The film’s title translates to “take your share” – a nod to both taking turns to sing and seizing life’s opportunities.
