Morriston is set to step back in time on Saturday December 13 as the community comes together for Morriston Victorian Day, a festive event designed to celebrate local heritage and support town centre businesses.
Running from 10am to 3pm, the event will transform Morriston with a Victorian themed atmosphere as the countdown to Christmas continues. Residents and visitors can expect a full day of festive activity, with local shops offering special deals alongside live music, craft stalls and fayres spread throughout the town.
The day will also feature displays and information from local heritage groups, giving people the chance to learn more about Morriston’s past while enjoying traditional Christmas carols and seasonal food. Families are invited to take part in a Victorian themed Christmas craft session for children, adding to the day’s nostalgic feel.
A highlight of the event is the launch of the new Once Upon a Time heritage trail. The trail explores how buildings in Morriston have changed over time, comparing what properties once were with what they are today. Visitors can download the Tawe Trail app for free to follow the trail and discover the area’s history together.
Entertainment and attractions on the day include free live music performances, traditional Christmas carols, festive food, a whiskey tasting experience, unique gifts from local traders, a crafts fayre and a Victorian police officer patrolling Woodfield Street and the surrounding area.
Morriston Victorian Day aims to bring the community together while encouraging people to shop local and enjoy everything the town has to offer in the run up to Christmas.
