Welsh business network, Comercity, has marked a year of operations by surpassing 50 members and making its first staff appointment, following strong growth across a wide range of industries in South Wales and beyond.

Founded by commercial banking specialist Jonathan Cave to counter “transactional networking”, Comercity has quickly established itself as a disruptor in the local market. The network has grown to include organisations from professional services, manufacturing, tech, and legal sectors across South Wales.

To manage this increasing demand, the company has appointed Alice Coleman as an Associate Director. She joins the team to strengthen operational capacity and drive member engagement.

Comercity has also partnered with communications agency TMPR, branding firm Never Still and customer experience specialists Insight6 as it develops its profile and support offering for members.

In just 12 months, the network has facilitated significant commercial activity for its members. This includes South Wales-based Suremark, which has secured strategic partnerships with South Wales Safety, Electrotech Electrical Engineering, and the Blitzer Group through the network, as well as a rapid growth in its social media presence.

Lee Ramsay, Director at Suremark, said: “Comercity has opened doors we wouldn’t have accessed alone. Unlike other groups where the focus can feel forced, this community has directly supported our visibility.

“The introductions we’ve received have created tangible commercial value and genuine new routes to market for us.”

Founder Jonathan Cave said the rapid growth of the network reflects strong demand for a business community built on accountability, collaboration and shared benefit.

“Reaching more than 50 members in our first year highlights how many businesses across Wales are looking for meaningful connections rather than transactional networking,” he said. “The appointment of our first team member marks an important step in strengthening the support we can provide as Comercity continues to grow.”
