Halo Bridgend Life Centre has benefited from a £300,000 investment for a substantial upgrade of equipment and extension of its fitness suite.

The fully refurbished gym facilities have been delivered thanks to funding from the council in partnership with Halo Leisure Ltd.

The cash injection has resulted in the following improvements:

    • an additional eight hundred square feet of brand-new, dedicated training space
    • installation of state-of-the-art equipment designed to support all fitness goals, from dynamic cardio to robust strength training
    • a full aesthetic update featuring fresh new flooring and contemporary décor to create a modern, energising, and motivating workout environment.

The newly refurbished facility, which was completed in December 2025, also ties in with confirmation that the council’s partnership agreement with Halo Leisure to run its leisure facilities has been extended until 2032.

“This substantial investment in our flagship leisure facility coupled with the renewal of our partnership agreement with Halo, cements our ongoing commitment to providing up to date and fully accessible resources to help improve the health and wellbeing of the local community.”

Councillor Jane Gebbie, the council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Social Services, Health and Wellbeing

“Halo and Bridgend County Borough Council first joined forces in 2012 to create healthier communities, and we are delighted that this partnership has been extended for at least another five years. The gym project at Bridgend Life Centre showcases exactly what can be achieved when we work together. It marks the start of an exciting year where we will get more people, more active, more often.”

Jo Smith, Halo Partnership Manager in Bridgend County

The extension of the gym and the additional equipment is fantastic! With more space and workout stations available, there’s no need to wait around for equipment which helps my workout flow much better. Its good to see the council and Halo investing in people’s long-term health and fitness.”

Mark Pearce, aged sixty-five, from Bridgend has been a regular at the Bridgend Halo Life Centre gym since he retired five years ago.
