Motorists are being urged to avoid part of the M4 this evening following a collision on the westbound carriageway between Junction 36 and Junction 37.

South Wales Police are currently at the scene and have warned of significant tailbacks in the area. Drivers are being advised to use alternative routes where possible as congestion continues to build.

The incident has led to long delays, with traffic backing up along the motorway and surrounding roads. Emergency services remain on site and are working to manage the situation.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said they expect disruption to continue for some time and have asked drivers to plan ahead before travelling.

Anyone heading through the area is being encouraged to check traffic updates and allow extra time for their journey. Further updates will be issued when more information becomes available.
