Wales is set for another grey and wet spell, with colder conditions and the chance of hill snow moving in by the end of the week, according to the Met Office.

Today will begin with further outbreaks of rain, which could be heavy at times. It is expected to stay overcast through the morning, before gradually turning drier from the south west during the afternoon. Some brighter spells may develop later in the day. Temperatures will reach a maximum of 10C.

Tonight, it will remain cloudy with rain affecting North Wales at first. The band of rain will slowly sink southwards overnight, with some heavier bursts possible. As temperatures fall, the rain is likely to turn to snow over the northern mountains. Overnight lows could dip to around 1C.

Friday will see further outbreaks of rain, again falling as snow over higher ground. The rain will gradually clear south during the day, followed by sunny spells. A widespread frost is expected to develop into the evening, bringing the risk of icy stretches on untreated surfaces. Daytime temperatures will struggle to reach 6C.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday is set to be drier and brighter following a frosty start. However, rain and hill snow could return on Sunday as temperatures recover slightly. Monday is expected to remain unsettled, with a mix of sunny spells and showers across Wales.
