Wales is set for a mixed Easter weekend, with sunshine giving way to wetter and windier conditions, according to the Met Office.

A bright but chilly start to the period will offer a brief spell of settled weather before more unsettled conditions move in.

Today is expected to remain largely dry with plenty of sunny spells through the morning and into the afternoon. Temperatures will feel fresher than recent days, with light winds and a maximum of around 12°C.

However, conditions will change quickly overnight as cloud thickens and outbreaks of rain spread across the country. The rain could turn heavy at times, particularly over higher ground, with increasingly blustery winds developing. Overnight temperatures are set to dip to around 3°C.

Friday will bring a more unsettled picture, with blustery winds and frequent showers, some of which could be heavy. There will still be the chance of some brighter spells later in the day, with temperatures reaching up to 15°C.

Looking ahead to the Easter weekend itself, Saturday is expected to be windy with a mix of showers and longer spells of rain at times.

Easter Sunday is forecast to be brighter overall, although breezy conditions will continue, along with a scattering of showers.

There is better news for Easter Monday, which is expected to turn drier and warmer, offering more favourable conditions for those planning to get outdoors.

Overall, while the weekend will bring a mix of sunshine and showers, the changeable conditions mean people across Wales may need to plan around the weather, particularly for outdoor activities.
