Oystermouth Castle is welcoming residents and visitors alike this summer with a lively programme of family-friendly events, blending history with imaginative activities at one of Swansea’s most popular heritage attractions.
Families can enjoy the Enchanted Fairy Trail on Saturday 18 July, where they can explore the castle grounds and surrounding woodland while following a magical trail filled with fairy folklore, hidden surprises and interactive storytelling. Young adventurers are encouraged to dress up and immerse themselves in the enchanting world brought to life around the historic site.
Also returning is the much-loved Prince and Princess Day on Monday 31 August, when the castle will transform into a royal kingdom. Children can meet storybook characters, take part in themed activities from games to magical sing-alongs, and enjoy a day of regal celebration. Costumes are strongly encouraged, making it a perfect opportunity for families to capture magical memories together.
Alongside these events, visitors can take in panoramic views over Swansea Bay, explore interactive exhibitions and discover the history of this 12th-century fortress.
The summer of events at the Mumbles landmark is all part of the council’s vision to encourage even more people to come and enjoy Swansea’s attractions, supporting businesses and the local economy.
Councillor Elliott King, Cabinet Member for Culture, Human Rights and Equalities at Swansea Council, said: “Oystermouth Castle is one of Swansea’s most treasured heritage attractions, and this summer’s events programme offers a fantastic opportunity for families to experience it in a fun and engaging way.
“From the magic of the Enchanted Fairy Trail to the excitement of the Prince and Princess Day, there’s something to spark every child’s imagination. We’re proud to bring the castle to life with activities that celebrate both its history and its role at the heart of the community.”
