Community groups and grassroots sports clubs across Newport are being invited to apply for funding through a new council scheme aimed at supporting local initiatives.
Newport’s new Communities and Grassroots Sports Fund is now open for applications and will provide financial support to voluntary and community organisations, social enterprises and grassroots sports clubs.
The fund is split into two separate grant programmes.
The Community Development Grant Scheme is designed to support community focused activities across Newport and is open to voluntary and community sector organisations, social enterprises and other not for profit groups.
The Grassroots Sports Together Fund is a new grant scheme created by the council to support grassroots sports clubs across the city.
The fund aims to strengthen local sport by helping clubs grow participation, develop volunteers and improve the quality of the activities they provide within their communities.
Funding will be available for both existing projects and new initiatives that help more people access sport and physical activity across Newport.
Applications for both grant schemes are now open and must be submitted by Friday 28 August.
All activities supported through the fund must be completed by 28 February 2027, with all grant funding spent by that date.
