Families across Pembrokeshire are being encouraged to take advantage of the expanded Flying Start childcare offer, with all children now able to access 12.5 hours of funded childcare per week.

The enhanced provision forms part of Pembrokeshire County Council’s and Welsh Government’s ongoing commitment to supporting children in their early years and helping families access high-quality childcare and early learning opportunities.

The funded childcare offer provides children with opportunities to learn, play and develop in a safe and nurturing environment, whilst also supporting parents and carers with childcare costs and enabling greater flexibility for work, training and family life.

Parents and carers are encouraged to get in touch to find out more about the support available and how to access the funded childcare offer.

Councillor Sam Skyrme-Blackhall, Cabinet Member for Communities, Early Years and Play, said: “I am delighted that more families across Pembrokeshire will now be able to benefit from the 12.5 hours funded childcare offer. Investing in our children’s early years is one of the most important things we can do, helping children develop the skills, confidence and foundations they need for the future.

“This expansion demonstrates our commitment to supporting families and ensuring that every child has access to high-quality early learning experiences. I would encourage parents and carers to find out more about the offer and take advantage of the support available.”

The expanded childcare offer is expected to benefit families across the county by increasing access to affordable childcare and supporting children’s social, emotional and educational development.

Pembrokeshire County Council continues to work closely with childcare providers and partners to ensure families can access quality services that meet their needs and provide children with the best possible start in life.
