Independent coffee roastery Wrexham Bean has taken home a prestigious Great Taste Award, with its Decaf Colombia named a winner in this year’s judging.
Founded in 2022 by family members Richard Priamo and James Roche, Wrexham Bean Co. is the city’s first speciality coffee roastery, supplying a growing number of businesses, including hotels, cafés, restaurants, pubs and independent shops, across North Wales and beyond.
Rich Priamo, Co-Founder of Wrexham Bean, said: “When we first started out, James and I spent months learning everything we could about coffee and teaching ourselves to roast. Over the years we’ve kept refining our technique, continuously developing our flavours to get the best possible taste. Decaf often gets overlooked, so it was really important to us to create one with that same great taste people love in regular coffee, so seeing our Decaf Colombia win a Great Taste Award means a lot and is a real milestone for us.”
The award win comes just months after Wrexham Bean moved into a much larger roastery unit to streamline operations, increase production and unlock its next phase of growth, and took home the national Food and Drink Award at Made in Wales.
Every bag of Wrexham Bean coffee features original artwork celebrating Wrexham’s landmarks and heritage, from the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in Trevor to the Racecourse Ground at Wrexham AFC and the city’s own Hollywood-style sign.
