The family of a man who died in a road traffic collision on the Crimea Pass in Gwynedd have paid tribute to him.

Alan Williams, 58, of the Trefor area, sadly died at the scene of the incident on Sunday, 9 August.

In a heartfelt tribute, his family said: “Alan, or better known as Uncle Al, was a loving son, brother, uncle, partner and best friend to many people.

“He was devoted to all his family who he loved very much and would do anything for anyone.

“Alan was an outgoing, hardworking man who had time for everyone. He was well known in the local area, where he worked as a joiner and was always held in high regard by his customers.

“He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, and he was well known for the banter that he had with people.

“He had numerous interests and hobbies including hiking, kayaking, music and local history. He loved animals and being outdoors and he had a keen interest in food. In his free time, Alan also enjoyed being out on his motorcycle. He was a keen and passionate motorcyclist. The local community is in shock following his passing.

“We would like to thank those who have reached out during this difficult time. As a family we are absolutely heartbroken and we would now like time to grieve. We ask to be given privacy at this time.”

Officers continue to appeal for witnesses and information that could assist in their investigations.

The two-vehicle road traffic collision involving a car and a motorbike happened on the A470 Crimea Pass between Dolwyddelan, and Blaenau Ffestiniog at around 1.30pm.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from the area leading up to the time of the collision is asked to contact the Roads Crime Unit at North Wales Police by calling 101, quoting reference 26000648860.
