Oswestry Balloon Carnival will return to Cae Glas Park on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 August 2026, bringing two days of entertainment, family attractions and community spirit to the heart of Oswestry.
Organised in association with Nightingale House Hospice, Oswestry Town Council and Oswestry BID, the much-loved annual event has become a highlight of the town’s calendar, attracting visitors from across the region while raising vital funds to support hospice care.
Taking place in the beautiful surroundings of Cae Glas Park, Oswestry (SY11 1AP), the carnival promises a packed programme of activities and attractions for all ages. From live entertainment and interactive experiences to family favourites and colourful displays, there will be plenty for visitors to enjoy throughout the weekend.
One of the event’s most anticipated highlights will take place on Saturday evening at 9pm with the spectacular Night Glow. Weather permitting, tethered hot air balloons will illuminate the park in a stunning synchronised display set to a specially choreographed musical soundtrack. Combining colour, light and music, the Night Glow transforms Cae Glas Park into an unforgettable outdoor spectacle and remains a firm favourite among visitors year after year.
Across the weekend, visitors can browse a variety of stalls offering food, drink and unique gifts, while younger visitors and thrill-seekers alike can enjoy the funfair attractions on offer.
Returning family favourites include the ever-popular Punch and Judy Show, while visitors will also have the opportunity to meet some unusual guests during the carnival’s alpaca walkabouts. Younger children can enjoy imaginative play at the Dinky Street Pop-Up, an all-day, drop-in experience designed especially for younger audiences.
Adding to the carnival atmosphere, Magic Alex will be bringing wonder and laughter through The Marvellous Magical Miniature Theatre, performing highly interactive tricks and entertainment around the park. Visitors can also enjoy performances from Mighty Smith the Strongman, whose traditional strongman show is guaranteed to captivate audiences of all ages.
Those looking to learn new skills can join the Circus Skills Drop-In Workshops, hosted by Entertainment Inc on Saturday and Short Scruffs Theatre Co on Sunday, offering opportunities to try a range of exciting circus activities.
Sports enthusiasts can put their abilities to the test at the TNS Shootout and Darts Stand, while Saturday’s programme will also feature a host of walkabout performers, including stilt walkers, jugglers and acrobats, creating memorable moments and photo opportunities throughout the park.
Whether visitors are enjoying the entertainment, browsing the stalls, spending time at the funfair, meeting the alpacas or relaxing with family and friends, the Oswestry Balloon Carnival offers a memorable summer outing for everyone.
