An engineering, environmental, and planning consultancy’s ambitious growth goals have been boosted by the appointment of two key team members.

Caulmert, which has offices in St Asaph, Bangor, Altrincham, Nottingham, and Kent, has welcomed senior environmental consultant Surjit Duley and principal structural engineer Mo Mohammed to its 50-strong workforce.

The hires come as part of the company’s quest to double turnover to more than £8 million in the next five years, with current clients including Eric Wright Water Ltd, Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK, Morgan Sindall, Adra, Kier Construction, and Essex County Council.

Surjit arrives at Caulmert with close to 30 years of experience in the environmental sector, having held roles including landfill manager, leachate manager, and compliance advisor.

He said: “When you have been in this line of work for as long as I have, you get used to seeing the same faces and develop a strong network.

“Caulmert is a consultancy that I’ve known for a long time, and I’ve always been impressed by the quality and professionalism of its work.

“I haven’t been in this new role for an extensive period of time, but I’ve already learned so much from the experienced team here.

“What is great is that everyone within the environmental team is encouraged to share knowledge and information.”

Mo will work out of the Altrincham office as part of the engineering department after rising through the ranks from a graduate role at one of the largest employee-owned companies in the world.

He said: “Engineering has always been my focus and the civils side was the route I chose to go down after some advice from a tutor at college and seeing my brother become a quantity surveyor.

“I’ve got close to a decade of experience on projects in the railway and highway sectors, so the time felt right to join Caulmert.

“The consultancy is growing and it is a fantastic time to join.”

Whilst with Caulmert, Manchester-based Mo wants to continue his career development by becoming a chartered civil engineer.

“It’s a prestigious qualification,” he continued. “One that will open doors in terms of experiences and help myself and the company grow.”

Founder and managing director Mike Caulfield said: “It’s wonderful to welcome Surjit and Mo to Caulmert, where I’m confident they will thrive.

“We are always striving to attract the very best talent, and we believe the two of them will help us drive forward as we continue to develop.”
