A sports pitch in Clydach Vale has been upgraded as part of the Ysgol Cambrian school investment, delivered by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council in partnership with Cambrian Village Trust.
Ysgol Cambrian is due to become Rhondda Cynon Taf’s fifth Additional Learning Needs school when it opens later this autumn. The school will have 176 ALN places, a hydrotherapy pool and a well-being centre.
Pupils will use the upgraded pitch during the day, while the Trust will manage it for community use in the evenings and at weekends. The pitch is next to the main 4G pitch, which is managed by the Trust and is home to Cambrian United FC.
The work resurfaced the smaller pitch, added a shock-pad, renewed the fencing and created a footpath.
A spokesperson for Cambrian Village Trust said: “We’re delighted to have worked in partnership with the Council to deliver these significant improvements to the sports facilities in Clydach Vale, creating a lasting community asset. The upgraded pitch will give children attending the school access to state-of-the-art facilities during the school day, while also supporting the continued growth of Cambrian United FC and its Academy, disability and girls’ sections outside of school hours. These improvements will help increase participation in sport, create new opportunities for young people, and support healthier, more active communities.”
