Businesses and aspiring traders are being invited to free Carmarthenshire Markets trading seminars ahead of Christmas.
Carmarthenshire County Council said places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
Sessions will take place on 13 October 2026 at Llanelli Town Hall, Church Street, from 2pm to 4:30pm and from 6pm to 8:30pm. Further sessions will be held on 14 October at St. Peters Civic Hall, Notts Square, Carmarthen, at the same times.
The practical sessions are being delivered by the National Market Trading Federation. The council said they will give prospective stallholders information on becoming a professional market trader, including hints and tips and business and trading advice, and will cover legal and administrative requirements, including technology and equipment.
Attendees will also be able to meet market organisers, council representatives and existing traders, and learn more about local customer trends, Christmas events, late night shopping and longer-term business opportunities.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Markets, Cllr Carys Jones, said: “Our markets play an important role in supporting local businesses, encouraging entrepreneurship and bringing people into our town centres. These sessions are a great opportunity for anyone considering market trading to find out what’s involved and how you can get your business from ideas at home to our markets. We want to give new and existing traders the information and confidence they need to take advantage of the opportunities our markets can offer.”
The seminars aim to help potential traders decide whether Christmas market trading is commercially worthwhile and understand the steps needed to get started. They are funded by the UK Government’s Local Growth Fund.
